Models
Use any AI SDK provider, or your own. Loom never routes model calls through a hosted service you did not choose.
Loom accepts any AI SDK language model. Install the provider you want and pass the model in.
import { openai } from "@ai-sdk/openai";
defineAgent({ model: openai("gpt-5") });
Your own provider
A model is anything that implements the AI SDK’s language model specification. That includes community providers, self-hosted endpoints that speak the OpenAI format, and providers you write yourself.
Why not model strings?
Passing a string such as "anthropic/claude-sonnet-5-5" throws. In the AI SDK, a bare string can be resolved through a hosted gateway; Loom makes the provider explicit so every model call goes where you can see it.
